Blackland is one of the premier route brokerage and consultants for FedEx Ground contractors in the country, as well as one of the largest and most successful contractors in the network. Blackland started six years ago in the Austin, TX market with 20 trucks, and today runs about 150 trucks a day in seven states and nine terminals across the country. This growth has not come without pain, but through this process we have learned essentials about what it takes to run a successful and profitable FedEx Ground P&D contract, having twice won Entrepreneur of the Year. We also have first-hand knowledge of what it takes to successfully sell and purchase these routes and how to navigate the very unique aspects of this industry. Jason Larsen
Jason left the corporate world six years ago to start Blackland. As the President and CEO, Jason has led all elements of the Blackland operation including strategies for both organic and acquisition growth, financing and asset allocation, legal and regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Prior to Blackland, Jason held various finance roles at Dell, as well as working for many years in commercial real estate. With an Accounting degree from Brigham Young University, as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, Jason has deep experience in what it takes to be a successful leader in this challenging and fast paced environment. Jason lives in Leander TX with his wife and 4 children.
Aaron Pierson
Over the last two years Aaron has managed the significant growth within Blackland, leading the operations and buy/sell transactions across the company. With an Accounting degree from Brigham Young University, as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, Aaron previously worked for many years at Deloitte with some of the largest Fortune 100 companies in the world as a consultant on their most challenging operational and financial issues. He has brought this knowledge and experience to the contracting space to optimize operations, maximize profit, and grow strategically through purchasing and selling strategic areas. Aaron lives in Round Rock TX with his wife and 5 children.
Kim Martinez
For the last 2 years Kim has led all back-office, payroll, HR and onboarding operations at Blackland. She and her team understand deeply the complexities in running a FedEx contracting operation as well as how to build and maintain a strong team of drivers. Kim and her husband Alex live in Liberty Hill, TX with their 2 boys.
Alex Martinez
Alex has a lifetime of experience in FedEx contracting, in everything from driving a daily route to managing teams of BC’s across the country. Starting as a driver in Austin 16+ years ago, Alex managed the Austin operation for Blackland for many years before transitioning to a Regional Manager role. In this position he oversees all operational aspects of our terminals and trains our BCs on how to successfully lead FedEx operations. He can bring to your organization invaluable insights into how to run both an efficient operation meeting all contracting standards as well as a profitable one.
